USB -- doesn't show on desktop
« on: 2013-01-06, 21:46:07 »

Hi, we are in the process of setting up a RemoteRig pair to separate a TS-480 faceplate from the rig.

I think we are almost set up, but we never got the USB cord & setup manager program to work.

After running the installer, the Windows program just says an error message that it can't connect to the unit.

The unit doesn't appear to be detected-- Windows never displayed a "New hardware detected" message.

The USB setup cord didn't seem to be plug-and-play, are there any steps I missed?

Thanks,

Do you see the same behavior for both RRC units? If so, have you tried another USB Cable and/or PC? I am asking because when connecting an RRC to a PC the PC should always be able to detect the RRC, even without having installed the Setup Manager program(though in that case you will be asked to provide serial port drivers)
Always include type of hard/software and version when asking for support.

Hi Jan,   I believe we did, yes, but we did not try a second USB cable or a different computer. Will have to followup with these when I'm next at the shack.
