RRC micro and IC7100
« on: 2013-06-02, 17:22:36 »
Hi,

RRC micro can not power on IC706 so it can not be used in this combination.
 Can it power on IC7100?

IC7100 can now be used with RRC1258.
I suppose RRCmicro will work with it as well?

Any idea or first experiences in this combinations?

Well, I did not get any replied but I know the answer to this question now.

RRC micro works well with IC7100. At first it seemed that I did not have any audio output from the radio coming through. But then using radio control software (HRD or TRX Manager) I noticed that AF sets at minimum each time radio starts from RRC micro.
So it is always necessary to set radio audio level as required.
Otherwise no issues so far

Hi

Does any one know if you need the head unit connected to the IC-7100 when using the RRC micro or will it work without it

No, the IC-7100 works without the controlpanel

Hi Mirek,
I've just replaced my old TS-480 with the IC-7100 but I'm still struggling to run it in remote mode with RRC Client and TRX-Manager. (The remote operation with two RRC Boxes and the control head is perfect)
How did you set the COM2 on the RRC 1258 in order to access the CI-V in remote mode ?
How can you turn ON the transceiver if the TRX-Manager Start ON function is not available when the IC-7100 is selected ?
Thanks for help and 73.

You need to connect a CT-17 from COM2 to the CI-V jack on the IC-7100 and setup COM2 to match as usual.
The RS-232 to CI-V converter must be one which is powered separately like CT-17, a pirate cable made to take power from the PC-port will not work.

The RRC sends the power-on command to the IC-7100 the program do not need to do it.

The RRC can be setup for IC-7100 use with a panel and will autmatically change to the settings for RRC-Micro if you connect with a RRC-Micro ( if you have set COM2 parameters correct)

Many thanks indeed Mike and well understood !
I'm already  using the CI-V signal coming from the IC-7100 to control my power amplifier so I should connect the CT-17 in parallel. Is there any problem ?
I should also parallel to the CT-17 and the power amplifier (2K-FA) the CI-V input of the 1216H (Antenna Web Switch) and the question is: will the TRX CI-V have enough current ? Do I need a current buffer ?
Thanks in advance.

I do not remember that I have read about any limits in how many boxes you can connect together on the CI-V bus

I'll try.... CT-17 says up to 4 tranceivers but is not the same think... I'll check if the TTL level will remail acceptable with 3 client hocked to the bus..
Best regards.
