Internet Speed Needed
« on: 2014-03-01, 01:30:41 »
So I put in an order with CenturyLink and the fastest speed available at my remote location is 3 mega-bit. Will that be fast enough for voice and digital modes?

There are actually a few discussions on that subject on this forum if you use the search feature. For example:

Note that RemoteRig is synchronous, i.e. uses the same bandwidth up and down. The internet providers are
marketing oriented and only market the download speed. You need to find out what the upload speed is to
make sure you have enough bandwidth.

Just make sure you keep in mind that the CODEC makes a huge difference, see:
http://www.remoterig.com/wp/?page_id=388 or Appendix A in the manual. If you run dual-receivers, it
doubles the bandwidth again.
