ICOM 706MkII - how to setup for CW

I am installing a set RRC-1258 MKII to control an ICOM 706MkIIg. I have followed the instruction with the splitting the separation cable etc. I can turn on the radio and audio as well as all controls seem to work. However, the CW is not working. is it necessary to connect the Radio-RRC PAD output to the radio key input (see manual page 94) or should it be sufficient with just the separation cable?

Yes you should connect the PAD output to the straight key input.
