Unable to get it working with TS-480
« on: 2016-04-13, 14:52:08 »
Hi,
after spending several days and reading all related threads here:
I am still struggling to get my TS-480 working with the RRC1258.
When I am using the setting DHCP on , the power button has no function. Only the three-tone is played threetimes
When I use fixed IP adresses for both units (192.168.100.10 and 192.168.100.11) and set the SIP IP same as the normal IP  , pressing the power button leads to the HELLO screen on the TS, but then nothing happens.
How should the SIP work while using the same IP?
Why is DHCP not working? Access via the WebUI is working...
Any hints?

Regards
Rainer

Hi

It's not a good idea  to use DHCP on the Radio-RRC but on the the Control-RRC it's OK.
If you use DHCP on the radio RRC it probably gets a IP address wich is not the same as you have set in the SIP contact field in the Control-RRC. That's why it's not working. You can email or PM me the exported settings(html) files from both units so I can check your settings

Hi Mike,

thanks for the quick reply.
I will send you the extracted setting file later.
With fixed IP the TS-480 starts but hangs with the HELLO screen...

Hi

OK yes send them

Have you connected the Radio-RRC to the same PS as the radio ?

Sometimes if the power supply can't deliver enough power the Radio-RRC resets when the radio starts you can see that on the uptime in Radio-RRC or on the PWR LED

Yes, it is the same power supply: 12 V @ 20A
https://www.conrad.de/de/ea-ps-2012-20-festspannungsnetzteil-510192.html
, think this is sufficient....
The counter on WebUI does not restart, so it seems to be continously running.

Hi it doesn't matter if it's a 30 amp PS some PS cannot handle the rush current, check the uptime in the Radio-RRC after you have tried to start

I made some progress.
After changing the CAT5 cable between AUX/Mic (Radio) and the Mic plug of the TS-480 now the HELLO screen disappears and the normal display /frequency is showing up.
Switching between the bands generates switching of the relays in the radio part.
But PTT is not working.

Rainer,

I have a checklist available (leider nur auf Englisch) that walks you through the network installation.
If you would like a copy, drop me a short mail at dj0qn (at) darc.de and I will send it to you.

if ptt is not working you have probably missplaced or broken  the red straps. If the speaker is muted when you press PTT the Control side is strapped OK and you can fokus on the radio side.

Hi,
update: Although all red stripes seems to be at the right place and also seems to have contact, I replaced all wires with new ones ( a bit longer than the delivered ones.. makes it easier to add the crossed wires) and now it works.
Thanks for your help Mike and Mitch !!

But depending on the order of switching on the devices, the TS-480 stays at the HELLO screen, but according to my net monitor the VoIP-connection is established and running the RTP stream . No clue why.
