Yeasu FT-857 No TX Audio

Hi everyone, I am currently setting up my remote station with a Yaesu FT857 and have purchased the dedicated RRC1258 mk2 kit including all connection cables and pre installed jumpers.
Everything appears to be working fine except I have no TX audio.  If I connect via LAN or via internet doesn't make any difference, the problem persists. 
 I have gone through all the settings on both units and can see no issues there.
 I have also tried it with the mic plugged directly into the radio instead of the control unit and TX audio then works fine.  I just wondered if anyone is familiar with this problem and could suggest how I might resolve the issue.

That type of problem is likely caused by the red straps on the socket in one or both of the RRC's.

I would open them up and double check to make sure that they match the manual for that rig and are making contact.

Hi Mitch, thanks for your reply, the units I have uses a  small, pre wired pcb installed where the straps would normally be fitted. both of these are snugly fitted into the sockets so I think the problem lies elsewhere.  I will however check for continuity between the appropriate pins in case a track is damaged. 73 Mal

Hi Mal,

Are you 100% positive that the pcb is for the 857? I am not aware that one was even available for that rig. The other Yaesus are not compatible.

The one I have is
 RRC-1258MkIIs v7 FT-857 is a package with hardware and software for the Yaesu FT-857.
The control cables are included and no strapping is needed, only IP-configurations etc.
As you can see from the description it should be more or less plug and play but I will double check the strapping pcb's (1258Y-3 Yaesu) tomorrow.

Hi Mike, thanks for your reply, apart from being wide banded the FT-857 is all standard including the MH31 mic.

You still need to remove some of the jumpers see manual, be sure that the pcb are turned correct also.

I have today removed both strapping pcb's, checked for correct orientation and continuity and all is good.
I have also double checked all the jumpers and can see no issue there either.
Cat 5 cable from radio rrc to radio also been checked and another cable tried but no change.

It is a long time since I had an 857, so just a guess: did you connect the microphone to the control head or the RRC? Page 157 of the manual says:

Control-RRC: The original microphone can be connected direct to the RRC AUX/MIC connector.

Radio-RRC:
Between the RRC AUX/MIC connector and the radios microphone jack you can connect the standard screened patch cable (CAT5 or CAT6) included in the FT-857 package.

Yes I assume you have connected the Mic to the Control-RRC MIC/AUX jack, and the Patch cable from the Radio-RRC Mic/Aux jack to the Radio mic jack.

What happens when you press PTT ? is the radio keying ?, is RX-audio muted ?

Thanks both for your replies.
The mic is connected to the RRC control Aux/Mic jack.
The cat 5 patch lead is connected from the radio RRC Aux/ Mic jack to the radio RJ45 jack.
Everything works as it should except for the lack of audio on the TX signal
When the PTT is pressed RX audio is muted control and radio end and the radio transmits a carrier but no audio
If I plug the mic directly into the radio RJ45 everything works including TX audio so the problem is not the microphone.

I have no other ideas. Do you have the radio-RRC public reachable over internet so I can try from here

Hi Mike, thanks for your kind offer. Ill get everything set up over the weekend and install Team Viewer on my PC.
I know how difficult fault finding can be without direct access so maybe this is the best way forward.
