This topic has been dormant for a while but I'm wondering if something is possible with the K4. With a couple of TCP/IP utilities plus Hamlib, I have control of virtually every aspect of my K4 from anywhere, but I lack a couple of important things.
- audio streaming (not implemented outside K4 to K4)
- CW keying (I can do this with keyboard input, but I'd like remote keying, ala RemoteRig)
- remote mic input (not high on the list since I work almost exclusively CW)
Would it be possible to use RR boxes "headless" for audio streaming, i.e., to have RR box taking audio from the radio at the remote end and providing keying, and only the RR box at the user end providing audio and keying? I already have full CAT control of the rig through my logging program and an SSH tunnel. With another ham I am working on a Python clone of K4 Macromaster. I can turn the radio on and off remotely with some other utilities I developed. The audio and the keying components are the only thing missing.
The audio output of the K4 has many options, including front and rear headphone jacks, and line in/line out.
I have an RRC-1258 Rev 6 pair.
